ヒマラヤの村で暮しながら薬草の研究をしている植物学者のジョンは、かつて雪男に関する論文を執筆したことがあった。ある日、ジョンとヘレン夫妻のもとへ、友人の登山家たちがやってくる。彼らは雪男を発見して一攫千金を狙っており、ジョンに捜索を手伝ってほしいと依頼する。調査隊が持参した雪男の牙と思われる証拠を見たジョンは、雪男がいるという山に向かう。ついにある闇の夜、テントそばで雪男らしき人影を発見する。
